Since the Meeting's founding, its members have actively fought for peace and justice causes in Kalamazoo and around the world. Today, we continue to work towards a better world, guided by our core Quaker values.
“What are we doing as a Meeting to communicate our presence and our principles to those around us?”
The Friends Committee on National Legislation, or FCNL, is a US-based organization that lobbies Congress to take action based on Quaker values. Members of the Kalamazoo Friends Meeting continue to be involved in FCNL projects through the Kalamazoo Advocacy Team, established in 2021.
Kalamazoo Advocacy Team, affiliated with a national network, use their power as constituents to advance peace, justice, and environmental stewardship in Congress. The team is made up of local Quakers and friends, who work to develop a relationship with their representatives and senators (and their staff) grounded on mutual respect and listening.
